Why I love the Lord: I live about 30 miles outside of Richmond Virginia with my husband, Jimmie. I have two daughters, both grown. My oldest lives in Maryland with her fiancé and two fur babies and the youngest lives in Lynchburg Virginia with her husband and one fur baby. I worked in accounting for many years prior to being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I eventually was forced to leave work, which I loved, and go on liability.

I am fortunate enough to be able to work in the office of a friend’s business two days a week, four hours a day which gets me out of the house and gives me a sense of purpose. I would love to do more; however, I am physically not able to at this time. I pray for a cure someday but being ill has brought me closer to the Lord and that is a precious gift to me. I also recently – in the last couple of years – took up sewing and that helps occupy my time as well. I started out with making some clothing for myself and found my way into bag making which is what I do the most of right now.

I had actually considered myself to be a Christian since I was twenty; however, I came to realize that, although I knew of Jesus, I did not really know Him. I suppose my awakening began when my Mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2000 and God really used that time to show us all miraculous things and speak to me very clearly. From that, I began to pursue a relationship with Him and I consider my authentic salvation date to be around the time I was forty.
